Wine Barrel Desk Lamp – Sisyphus – Made from retired Napa wine barrel rings. 100% Recycled!
In our continuing effort to be environmentally conscious and recycle (and also to create more awesomeness), we came up with this fun filled idea to reuse wine barrel rings in this unique way.
I love creating new and fun art and our new line of wine bots is a quirky twist on recycling barrel rings. I bend and shape the rings by hand (you should se our forearms!), then each one is carefully welded and these little guys spring to life.
I designed this to go with my Atlas Shrugged lamp! Each one numbered and signed by the artist.
Sisyphus is a figure from Greek mythology who, as king of Corinth, became infamous for his general trickery and twice cheating death. He ultimately got his comeuppance when Zeus dealt him the eternal punishment of forever rolling a boulder up a hill in the depths of Hades. Founder of the Isthmian Games and grandfather of Bellerophon, he is nowadays best remembered as a poignant symbol of the folly of those who seek to trifle with the natural order of things and avoid humanity’s sad but inescapable lot of mortality.
